Leather Protector and Cleaning Tips

Tanners Choice Leather Shampoo is our choice of shampoo for deep cleaning.

Before use, wear chemical resistant gloves and safety glasses with side- shields.

1. Begin by soaking a white towel or use the Oates Industrial Superwipes - White in the solution, squeeze out the excess and you are ready to go.  Always apply gently in a circular motion, ensuring that the foam is agitated on stitching and heavily soiled areas.  Leave for a few minutes and wipe off with a dry towel in a circular motion. Repeat the process where heavy soiling is still evident if required.

Follow with the Tanners Choice Leather Protector.  Use a clean, damp non-linting flannel.  If the weather is hot, a pure cotton cloth (not toweling) is best.  Pour a small amount of Protector onto a pad or cloth and apply infirm even strokes, slightly rubbing into edges and crevices. Never rub freshly applied coats as this will permanently smear of streak the partly dried surface.  Repeat the process, section by section, until the item has been coated. After the first coat has dried, (approx.30-45minutes) a second coat can be applied across the direction of the previous coat to increase protection.  This may only be required where heavy wear protection is required.  After the surface has been protected it will be safe to use once the solvent smell has dissipated (usually a few hours) 

Tanners Choice Protector helps form a film that penetrates and bonds to the surface, creating a tough barrier layer that helps resist spillages, abrasives, and grime. When applied to freshly cleaned or new leather it dries to a natural soft sheen and will only show higher sheen when more than two coats are applied.
