Floor Pads
Why choose floor pads over brushes?
Floor pads are an alternative to brushes. Pads are used on floor scrubbers, and also for hand held pad holders, and doodle bug pad holders attached to poles. Floor pads are made from the same material used in scourers. Floor pads are colour coded according to their level of abrasiveness (see the floor pad colour chart below... black super abrasive floor pad, white scratch free scouring pad a scratch free pad used on glass) - that allows users to choose a pad that matches the dirt challenge, the durability/sensitivity of surface, and productivity they need.
Floor pads maintain constant contact with the floor surface as they have more contact points than brushes. Scrubber brushes are more expensive to manufacture, and requiring more labour to maintain. They also require more passes because brush tips contacting the floor are far less than the even distribution of floor pad fibres.
There are instances when brushes have a clear advantage over pads. If you are cleaning uneven surfaces or floors that have tile and grout, it makes more sense to use brushes as their bristles will reach into the grout to scrub out soil. Pads are not able to reach into grout to scrub out the soil and grime. Where floors have wood grain or look-alike vinyl wood grain, that grain is a dirt trap only a brush can reach into!
