Phosphoric Acid is a colourless, odourless and non-volatile liquid. PH<1 means it has high acidity from a safety perspective. Protective clothing must be worn when handling this product. It has the cabaility of also affecting surfaces permanently.
Due to the non-toxic and mildly acidic nature of the phosphoric acid. The treatment removes grease and light rust to give a light phosphate coat to promote paint adhesion, it has a variety of uses including:
- Rust removal
- Electrolyte in fuel cells
- Acts as an oxidising agent
Phosphoric Acid is suitable to remove rust and act as an oxidising agent. Some cleaning chemicals include a low % Phosporic acid for effective outcomes and lower risk than pure acids like Go Getter from Diversey.
Phosphoric acid can be very hazardous in the case of skin contact, eye contact, and ingestion. It can also cause irritation if vapors are inhaled. ... Due to its disassociation constant, phosphoric is a weak acid. Unlike sulfuric or hydrochloric it will not fully disassociate in water at normal concentrations. This renders phosphoric safer to use than sulfuric or hydrochloric and evolution of gasses is rarely, if ever, a problem
