This tool is air powered using the suction of the vacuum. It offers rotating bristles and a compact size that are useful on stairs and good for deep-cleaning upholstery, mattresses, or car interiors. Some have rubber parts to better grab and remove pet hair stuck to fabrics (but skip using it on delicate silk).
A strong vacuum will allow effective action. Use the Rapid Clean Ghibli which is the strongest vacuum we have, registering 120 on our vacuum meter against most other vacuums only registering 85. The Nilfisk GD5 registers 105.
You can get motorized turbo brushes, but they require an electrical socket on the vacuum cleaner to plug into, not many vacuums have this.
